  1. COURSE OBJECTIVES

Design thinking is a powerful approach to new product development that begins with understanding unmet customer needs. It’s a human-centered design process that approaches problem-solving with understanding the user needs. It is argued to develop the creative potential of individuals and enable them to deal with wicked problems. This course aims at introducing students to design thinking. This course aims to introduce students to design thinking. Students will be provided with the knowledge and tools to apply design thinking to solve problems in businesses, organizations or self-employment. The course includes project implementation, case study and small practical exercises to hone the knowledge, skills and experience so that students can keep up with the requirements of the labor market.

Midterm test

Lecturers can choose between the following midterm assessments:

Option 1: 01 short mid-term test

Option 2: 01 group assignment + presentation

Option 3: 01 short mid-term test + 01 group assignment


In addition, lecturers can encourage students through bonus points for those who perform well in class. However, the bonus point should not be more than 01 point of the mid-term assessment.

Mid-term test: according to the answers

Group assignment : 

- Prove the appropriateness of the problem to be solved (2pts)

- The proposed solution is suitable to the problem, clearly illustrated (3 points)

- The novelty of the solution (2 points)

- Use good references (1pt)

- Clear language, correct quotation (1pt)

- Creativity in presentation (1pt)

Lecture can choose between the following final assessment:

- Writing test (multiple choice and/or essay questions)

- Individual Assignment
