1. COURSE OBJECTIVES

This course introduces students to the major theoretical models used by financial economists in the area of investment analysis. The purpose of this course is to acquaint the student with basic principles of finance theory emphasizing the theory of the firm's investment and financing decisions. To accomplish this goal, this course will focus on basic concepts of consumption and investment decision making under risk, market efficiency, asset pricing, portfolio theory and market equilibrium. The course starts with the theory of choice under certainty and uncertainty and applies it to the choice of the investment portfolio. Building on the portfolio theory, risk and return are considered to optimize investors’ utility. Capital budgeting techniques are analysed to understand project evaluation. Capital market and firm valuation are discussed in the later part of the course. The course concludes with the market equilibrium, CAPM and asset pricing theory.

1. COURSE OBJECTIVES

This course is intended to provide students with an overview of the skills required for career development such as critical thinking and problem solving; communication, presentation and teamwork skills; organizational, time management and planning skills. The course enables students to explore different career paths in the field of international economics and business as well as in different types of professional organizations (businesses, social organizations and public organizations). 1. COURSE DESCRIPTION

This module aims to equip students of different majors in the field of economics and business with research methodology. After the course, students will understand research philosophy and be able to conduct steps in research process such as identifying a research topic, doing literature review, understanding research philosophy foundations and approaches to develop research theories, formulating the research design, conducting research ethics and ethics in data access, collecting and analyzing quantitative and qualitative data, and presenting research findings.
