1. COURSE OBJECTIVES:

This  module  provides  students  with  an  understanding  of  the  principles  and  practices  of international  trade  finance that can be  applied  in  business operations. The  module  focuses  upon  the  additional  risks  that  need  to  be  taken  into consideration  by  enterprises when  trading  internationally  and  by  financial  institutions (banks...)  when providing  payment  services  and  finance (methods of trading and settlement, performance bonds, guarantees and financing...),  together with  the  methods  that  can  be  used  to mitigate or reduce the potential impact of these risks as well as provides solutions financing in enterprise-facing situations in international business.

1. COURSE OBJECTIVES

The mid-term Internship is an annual and compulsory activity for all full-time students at Foreign Trade University. This module will equip students the capacity to describe the current situation of the practical problem; investigate the shortcomings/limitations that need to be solved for the case of an internship organization; propose solutions to solve these shortcomings/limitations. Students will have the chance to gain experiences after the internship, following by continuing to accumulate the knowledge and skills during their next study phase at the University. The internship will take place in 5 weeks. Students are allowed to choose a practical topic related to the internship organization, and the topic should be presented in an internship report (written in English). The content of the report must be in accordance with the major in banking and international finance, under the guidance of scientific instructors and/or mentors from the internship organization.

2. COURSE CONTENT 

The course is designed for 5 weeks of internship or 200 hours of internship, when students finish 2 years of study or accumulate at least 45 credits. In case students are accepted to practice at organizations and enterprises that have signed cooperation agreements with Foreign Trade University or the Faculty of Banking and Finance for a period different from the mid-term internship period prescribed by the University, students can make an application to the Faculty of Banking and Finance and the Department of Undergraduate Studies to apply for an internship in the middle of the course. If agreed, the Faculty of Banking and Finance will appoint teachers to guide and evaluate students according to regulations.

1. COURSE OBJECTIVES

Information technology (IT) is the backbone of Banking and Finance activities. Therefore, Finance - Banking has always been one of the leading industries in the application of information technology in operation and management. Technology is applied in most of the banking services such as payment, transaction, money transfer... as well as used in investment analysis, automated advice, and risk management of the bank and companies in the financial sector in general.

The course is designed to equip students with basic IT knowledge in the field of Finance - Banking. In the first part of the course, basic IT applications in Finance - Banking will be introduced including Financial Technology (Fintech), Machine Learning, and Big Data. In the second part, students will learn how to use Excel to solve financial problems and learn how to analyze data using Excel tools and functions. This course aims to provide a treatment of the concepts of financial statement analysis, key issues in corporate reporting and the regulatory framework, and the links between accounting and market-based information. 1. COURSE OBJECTIVES

This course provides students with a basic introduction to the concepts, methods and models used in the business analytics. Analytics is defined as the use of data, statistical analysis, quantitative methods, computer-based models and information technology to help managers gain insight about their business operations and make better, fact-based decisions. Tools and techniques of business analytics are used across many areas in a wide variety of organizations. Emphasis of the course will be on developing analytical thinking in addition to the knowledge of procedures. Students also gain a high level of proficiency of Microsoft Excel through extensive use of Microsoft Excel capabilities to various analytic problems.
