1. COURSE OBJECTIVES
This course is designed to acquaint students with the origins and framework of USA legal system, together with numerous legal areas of study which are essential in recognizing and managing legal and ethical risks in business decision making. The ability to recognize legal and ethical issues and react accordingly is crucial in managing a private sector business or a public sector organization.
A discussion of legal environment, business ethics, civil procedure and alternate dispute resolution, constitutional law, torts and products liability, contracts and remedies, the Uniform Commercial Code, Federal Acts affecting credit transactions, the various forms of business property and how it is protected, and the law relating to corporations, partnerships, and other business entities.

Assignments/problem sets/reports: One or more specific topics will be set by the lecturers
Oral presentation: The class will be divided into small groups. Each group shall be provided 10-15 minutes for presentation, and 5-10 minutes for answering questions. The questions can be raised by anyone in the class and by the lecturers.
Mid-term exam: One mid-term exam in writing will be set by the lecturers. It includes multiple choices, short questions, and case study questions. The exam can be open/ or closed book, which is decided by the lecturers.
Assignments/problem sets/reports: 10 marks
- The assignment requires students to undertake independent research with a maximum number of 2,000 – 3,000 words.
