1. COURSE OBJECTIVE:

This course provides students with the fundamental and important concepts of impact evaluation such as randomized assignment, instrumental variables, regression discontinuity design, difference-in-differences, and matching. This course approaches impact evaluation from application perspective rather than technical perspective, focusing on the principles behind each method to help learners choose the appropriate methods for particular project, policy or program.

  • Oral presentation at the impact evaluation seminar

 

  • Format: 1 slide and an one report summary 2-3 pages A4
  • Content:  Topic approved by the lecturer(s)
  • Evaluation criteria:

+ Present the statement clearly and rationally              2 points

+ Present the topic logically and focally with linkage to the reality 5 points

+ Citation & reference 1 point

+ Language (including body language) and styles 2 points

 

 

  • Final paper

 

  • Format: Referring to -        Journal of International Economics and Management (JIEM) guideline
  • Content: Topic approved by the lecturer(s)
  • Evaluation criteria:

+ Problem: Identify clearly and reasonably the problem       3 points

+ Analysis: Logical and profound analysis with examples of real issues 4 points

+ Reference: Use various academic reference materials with citation 1 point

+ Language: Clear and academic style, cited correctly                       1 point

+ Creativity                                                                        1 point

 

 

  • Mid-term exam

 

  • Format: Writing in paper or computer-supported
  • Content: Topics which were studied
  • Format and time: MCQs and/or essay in 45- 60 minutes.
