1. COURSE OBJECTIVES

This course aims to equip students with basic to advanced knowledge on issues related to the effects of information on the whole economy as well as on each economic sector. Economics of Asymmetric Information studies the forms of economic agreements and contracts, in which one party captures more information than the other party or the participants have opposing goals, and the degree of influence of these to the benefits and profits of the parties involved. In the most general research context of asymmetric information, theoretical models are studied to provide the most optimal choices for businesses and individuals when making economic decisions. The issue of moral hazard and reverse screening related to economic contracts are also the main contents of the module. Economics of Asymmetric Information also studies the importance and implications of asymmetric information in areas such as development economics and insurance.

Upon completion, students are able to:

- Mastering the principles of making optimal decisions in the context of asymmetric information,

- Master the application of Economics of Asymmetric Information in two typical fields: development economics and insurance.

- Applying knowledge of Economics of Asymmetric Information to real life for education market, insurance market.....

1. COURSE OBJECTIVES

The course aims to provide basic knowledge of how to employ primary data in conducting research for students. Students will be introduced to the meaning and benefits of using primary data in quantitative research for specific socio-economic fields especially in international economics contexts. For example, working with survey data to answer research questions in behavioral economics, governance, management, marketing, etc.

The course also aims to guide students to design questionnaires, collect data and process the collected data. To conduct an online survey, students will be introduced to and guided to use one of (but not limited to) online questionnaire design tools such as Google form (free) or Qualtrics, Survey Monkey (30day fully functional trial version) or free trial version (with a limited survey question).

The other objective of the course is guiding students to analyze and evaluate primary data, apply economic/econometric models to analyze data and write reports to answer research questions. Regarding data analysis, students will be introduced and trained to use the appropriate statistical software such as Excel, R (both are free), or paid software that are most suitable for the topic students choose to work with, such as SPSS Amos, Stata, SmartPLS (students can request trial first).

1. COURSE OBJECTIVES

The Internship Internship module is a process that helps students demonstrate the ability to apply the accumulated knowledge from their study to analyze a specific problem at agencies, organizations and enterprises in the international economics context.

In addition, the implementation of the midterm internship brings students the opportunity to adopt the theoretical basis, methods of analysis, synthesis, and evaluation of practical problems at agencies, organizations and enterprises in a scientific manner. This is also an opportunity for students to approach the working environment, establish relationships with businesses, better orient their careers and gain an advantage in the recruitment process after graduation.

1. COURSE OBJECTIVES

The goals of this course include learning the fundamentals of cost-benefit analysis; using CBA to evaluate policy, project; and developing an understanding of CBA’s strengths and limitations

People make decisions everyday that involve both costs and benefits. Cost - Benefit Analysis (CBA) examines the rationale for government provision of goods and services and presents cost-benefit analysis as a method to evaluate public participation in a market. Policy decisions inevitably require difficult trade-offs. If we devote more resources for one purpose, we will not be able to use those resources for other purposes, including investment in other programs that address similar goals. Cost - Benefit Analysis explicitly recognizes these trade-offs, considering whether those affected will benefit enough to warrant the costs of a policy. Such analysis is required to support policy decisions around the world.  This course covers the basic components of benefit-cost analysis including estimating impacts, valuing outcomes using market prices, valuing outcomes that are not as easily measured in monetary terms (such as environmental quality, health, and longevity), and addressing uncertainty. Along with other courses, this course supplies students’ knowledge and skills to make the most effective decision for the economy. This is especially useful for those who will work for the government such as ministries, government offices or organizations.

1. COURSE DESCRIPTION:

The course provides an overview of environmental assessment to design, evaluate and replicate sustainable projects and programs. The course provides an overview of the concepts, methods, issues and various forms and stages of the process. This course introduces the methodology of Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) as a vital tool for sound environmental management and decision making.
