1. COURSE OBJECTIVES

The current and future challenges for the financial industry are manifold and have far- reaching consequences for the (global) economy due to the importance of the financial system. The "Major Finance" provides students with the foundations, techniques and models required to survive in this difficult environment. In particular, the students will become familiar with the risks financial institutions are facing and how these risks can be managed. Furthermore, they learn how to evaluate equities, bonds and derivatives and how to construct efficient (equity) portfolios.
