1. COURSE OBJECTIVES

This course involves insurance and risk management as tools to serve international business activities. Basic concepts and fundamental legal principles in insurance are introduced to students. Emphases are on arranging insurance policy in some non-life insurance fields, especially on insurance for export/import goods carriage by sea in international trade. Insurance Fundamental concepts and the necessary of risk management are also important contents that will be mentioned in the course. Besides, this course instructs students insurance company’s operations and legal and compliance functions as well as other operational fields.

 Assessment Criteria

* Generic Criteria

* Formative assessment:

(1) Class attendance:

- Attendance checking: minimum of 5 times

* Summative assessment:

(2) Extra credit (or bonus points for study encouragement):

- Given when students actively participate during lectures

- Students give their answers to the lecturer’s questions straight to the point

- 3 times: 1 bonus point for the mid-term exam, 6 times: 1 bonus point for the final exam, the total bonus points not exceeding 2 points for mid-term exam and/or final exam scores.

 

(3) Mid-term exam:

Students can choose one of the following two mid-term exam formats:

+ Written exam in 45 minutes

- Content: issues have been studied

- The written exam can be in the form of 20 multiple-choice questions or 02 essay questions (in which, 01 theory-based question and 01 practical question)

- Students are not allowed to use any material during the exam.

- Evaluation criteria:

+ For multiple-choice questions: students answer exactly 20 multiple-choice questions: 10 points

+ For essay questions: the maximum points for each question are 5 points, specifically:

Understand the issue 1 point

Solving the issue 1 point

Analyze the issue 1 point

Giving example 1 point

Expression 1 point

    Total 5 points/essay question

+ Group presentations:

- Content: The subject has been approved by the teacher

- Criteria:

Organizational (Identify the problem very clearly, accurately and well organized.) The presentation is easy to follow thanks to the way the organization. The transfer between the parts is carried out smoothly and coordinated. Logic, deep, factual): 2 points

+ Comprehension (excellent understanding of the problem, excellent demonstration of mastery of content, application and reasoning): 2 points

+ Creativity (Very creative and unique, Design and creative use of materials, new print sheets, visual tools and methods): 1.5 points

+ Visual tools (simple, clear, easy to understand, easy to read, very good in content, well designed and used very well. 1 point

Summarization (clear, accurate, highlighted points, clear solutions, recommendations, conclusions, or calls to action): 1.5 points

+ Presentation ability (Presentation of presentation: Confidence, good notes, good gestures, good listening and good eye contact, clear presentation language): 2 points

Total: 10 points

(4) Final exam

- Exam format: Oral exam

- Content: Issues have been studied

- The test consists of two questions that are randomly assigned by the students in the exam kit.

- Criteria:

+ Exactly answer the question correctly: 10 points

    Total: 10 points
