1.COURSE OBJECTIVES
The course aims to provide students with opportunities to take 15 weeks of internship program in an international organization, a business operating globally or government agencies relating to international economic activities. Accordingly, students will be equipped with skills of writing a thesis, applying a theoretical framework that they have learned in the major of International Business and Economics, to handle some practical issues, or doing research related to international economics and business, and defending it in front of a panel of the lecturers of Foreign Trade University and their mentor(s) at the internship company/ organization.
2. COURSE CONTENT AND SCHEDULE
2.1 Course content
The course is designed for 15 weeks of internship and thesis writing. Specifically, the number of hours students actually work at company/ organization is as follows:
- 400 hours for students who choose topics to solve some practical issues in businesses or organizations;
- 200 hours for students who choose to do research on an issue related to international economics and business for policy making and implementation or to support the operation of several businesses and organizations operated internationally.
School of Economics and International Business will appoint instructor(s) to guide and evaluate students based on the current regulations. Accordingly, students are responsible for regularly contacting and complying with the instructions of their instructors to perform the following tasks during 15 weeks:
- Choosing an internship suitable for the major of International Business and Economics;
- Developing a work plan for 15 weeks of internship and write a thesis;
- Selecting the problem to research or solve that is related to the internship unit and suitable to the major of International Business and Economics to present in the graduation thesis, named the topic of the graduation thesis;
- Developing graduation thesis outline;
- Carrying out the actual work of the organization or company and write the internship report;
- Collecting necessary information and data for the graduation thesis;
- Writing a draft of the graduation thesis;
- Asking for comments on the draft of the graduation thesis from the instructor and from the instructor at the internship unit or people knowledgeable about the issue studied in the report;
- Finalizing the graduation thesis including the internship report, approved by the instructor and the internship company/ organization.
2.2. Schedule
The appointed instructor will introduce the detailed schedule to students to ensure that they can complete their graduation thesis successfully. The following plan might be a guideline for both instructors and students:
