COURSE OBJECTIVES
The course aims to provide basic knowledge of how to employ primary data in conducting research for students. Students will be introduced to the meaning and benefits of using primary data in quantitative research for specific socio-economic fields especially in international economics contexts. For example, working with survey data to answer research questions in behavioral economics, governance, management, marketing, etc.
The course also aims to guide students to design questionnaires, collect data and process the collected data. Beside the paper questionnaire, students will be introduced to and guided to use one of (but not limit to) online questionnaire design tools such as Google form (free) or Qualtrics, Survey Monkey (30day fully functional trial version) or free trial version (with a limited survey question).
The other objective of the course is guiding students to analyze and evaluate primary data, apply economic/econometric models to analyze data and write reports to answer research questions. The module also equips students with skills of how to use appropriate software to process and analyze data after the survey such as Excel, R (free), SPSS Amos, Stata, SmartPLS (trial version for students).
