The objectives of this course are (1) to show that gender as a social category (like race, ethnicity and class) is relevant to the study of the economy (2) to gain an understanding of some of the ways in which the economy is gendered (3) to examine gender in a global economic context, and (4) to think about alternative approaches to economics that would promote economic and social justice for women and men.
